This volume represents the determinate version of the Tesoro de la lengua castellana o española by Covarrubias as he intended to publish it. Whithin this version, contemporary graphical variants were introduced as well as modifications that Covarrubias himself worked out. He wanted to introduce those modifications in a second edition that has never been publicated due to his sudden death. For that reason this version is the only "complete“ one wich contains all of the material worked out by Covarrubias.

As an appendix there are extensions created by Noydens that appeared in his version of the Tesoro in 1673 - a version that also was paid attention to while creating this volume.

To facilitate the lecture, the text was modyfied by strictly applying philological criterions. The text was revised in a way that search results can be attained applying alphabetical search. The original items and numerous cross-references are shown in brackets to conserve all the relevant aspects of the original version and, at the same time, maintain a simple and functional way of use.

This new edition of the Tesoro contains a huge quantity of illustrations like engravings, emblems, maps, etc. wich Covarrubias referrs to in the text itself, and there are also a abundance of illustrations that facilitate comprehension and enrich the pleasure of reading.

The DVD wich accompanies the volume is of special interest. It offers all of the possibilities of modern IT-based search: Search of items or whole passages, search of proverbs and verses, commentaries and emblems, etc.
